Unique amongst all the Khmer temples is the pyramid of Prasat Prang at the heart of the Koh Ker temple complex in Preah Vihear Province, northern Cambodia.  The pyramid comprises seven tiers and from the top there are views to the Dangrek Range, a high plateau on the Cambodia-Thai border. Koh Ker was the capital of the Khmer empire between 928 to 944 AD built by King Jayavarman IV.
